How do I know if I need a crown or a filling?

It depends on how severe your damage is. If you have a small cavity, then a filling is the treatment recommended for it. If the damage is larger, there is a crack in the tooth, or it has undergone extensive dental work before, then a crown is what is recommended. Your dentist will let you know after an inspection.

Usually two visits. The first is for preparing the tooth and taking an impression, then you’ll wear a temporary crown while your permanent one is made, typically a week or two apart.Your dentist will confirm the timeline for your specific case.

It depends on the size and location of the cavity, and the material used. We’ll give you a clear cost before starting any work, once your dentist has assessed the tooth.

Bruxism is the clinical term for teeth grinding or clenching, often happening at night without you realising. It can wear down teeth and existing fillings or crowns over time. A custom night guard is the most common approach, alongside looking at what might be contributing to it, like stress or bite alignment.

Local anesthetic is employed during procedures like fillings and crowns, so you will not experience any pain during the treatment process. However, some post-treatment sensitivity may be expected, which usually resolves within a couple of days.
